Oh my goodness, what a phenomenal experience! We went up the Chagres River by canoe with our tour guide Roberto and an Embera tribesman. We hiked through the rainforest and waded through the river to get to a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole, before hiking back and going by canoe to the Embera village where we were entertained, we danced, were fed an amazing lunch, and learned about the Embera people. We also had the opportunity to purchase some of their hand-made crafts which was a special treat.
The entire experience was made extra special by our guide Roberto. He communicated in advance of the tour to see if we needed anything while in his country, he was prompt to pick us up and had a nice vehicle with snacks and beverages for us. He graciously took pictures and video of us and sent to us afterwards, that was a nice bonus. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly - he was the perfect host!
A nice observation was that he wasn't distracted by his phone at all, except to take pictures and video of us. He was completely focused on our group all day.
Next time we're in Panama he will be our first contact for anything outside of our hotel!
Awesome!!!

Our tour guide Carlos made this a very memorable trip! He was amazing! Very friendly! We had a lot in common! He's from my hometown Miami! This tour was epic! It's a MUST! You to see the real Panama! Not the tourism part! My family and I had a great time! We hiked, went swimming in the refreshing river, and had an amazing lunch prepared for us by the village ppl! They are so nice and humble!
Carlos is the best!

Everything about this experience was memorable because it was so amazing. We hiked to a waterfall and got to swim. The lunch was delicious. And I loved watching them dance at the end. Make sure you take cash to purchase handmade items.
